Been waiting to post this up, but time is not really friendly. Get to know both Malcolm and Estelle only under a year ago, and immediately I know they both make a Great Couple. They spent so much time in preparing all those little stuff which in the end makes a BIG deal. I personally Like the Peacock piece in all their Wedding Favors. The Color Combination is just perfect for a soft vintage color photograph. And that gave me the idea in my Post Process. We had tons of Fun, lots of stories to be remembered and Here's our Fave from that day.

We did another charity assignment right after Kinabalu Pink Ribbon, and this time it is for the Youth Art Fest 2011. a Friend of mine from the Eyes and Ears Production, mastermind this local compilation album that contain strong message towards our youth. Follow your Dream, Believe in your passion are some ideas coming out from this music album. I'm honored to Photograph their Album Cover, looking at our Local youth doing things that they love is truly Inspiring.

We wanna create the image with everyone in a local urban set. Guess What, We ended up on top of a building and notice this beautiful red water tank.

We deploy three SB-900 for this, One serves as the main Light With diffuser and two as the side light, left and right respectively. The Result? Voila..

Over the Year 2011, We are totally Blessed with so many great people around us. Most of which became our New Good Friends. The Fun and Thrills that We have trough out their journey from the photoshoot to their Wedding to their first child is really something that We really thankful for. Short Break that never taste sweeter

Gosh..Where do I start? Many stuff have happen from the last blogpost. Back in December We were out shooting Weddings till the last couple of hours of 2011, soon after that We're home getting our luggage packed before our short holiday a day after that. We're so occupied till We didn't get the chance to bid a proper farewell to 2011 and a great 2012 to our Family and Friends. It is now 1 am, I was determine to share a few words before heading to dream street. Everyone is fast asleep and my fingers keep hitting the keyboard. We have a great run in 2011 and by the look of our calendar I'm pretty sure We're gonna have another great one only better. What I know for sure We're gonna have another new year Wedding this year, just like 2011, Our Shooting schedule already occupy 29th, 30th and 31st December 2012. And Most probably We're gonna plan our next short holiday. We had such great time in Kuala Lumpur a couple of weeks back, spending quality time with our lil one. If you follow our Blog long enough, you know that We can only spend time with Lil Eva Whenever we're not shooting, When we're back from a Wedding Shoot she usually fast asleep and We can only see her the next morning. To be with her just the three of us in KL is rather a Big deal for us. Make up the lost time and doing lots of catch up. Unfortunately that moment don't last, But We're really looking forward for our next family getaway. Some of you might know what United Buddy Bear is, I'm not to sure how many of them on Display in Pavilion KL but We're Lucky enough to witness this cool event. One thing that We love about based in Penampang is the Beautiful Paddy field that is not far away. We set our journey and when we arrived the weather was promising, very diffused and cloudy but the only thing missing is the wind. Boy, We sweat buckets. When the heat came up unbearable, We decided to take shelter at one of the house nearby and start shooting again. This is one of the session that I remembered most. We got to shoot Mas Cargo Man! [JB] got the best client ever. We're always excited when We get to shoot something that is out of the box. Just as I expected the Cargo is dark, hot and greasy place but that didn't stop us from playing around the perimeter. When I get to meet them for the first time, I have the impression that they are both shy in front of camera. Kinabalu Pink Ribbon : 2012 Calendar

This is some series of shots that We did for Kinabalu Pink Ribbon this year. A good friend of ours Des, gave us an idea on how we can contribute and help Breast Cancer Survivor while raising the awareness about this silent disease. We're pretty honored and excited to get the chance to met up with a group of strong individuals. Seeing them how they interact and livin the life, truly show us to see life in a different way. This is the same session if you remembered I tweeted and FB-ed about I'm looking for a guy with 6 pack abs helping us out for this charity project. The response was going south and we're so desperate to get one, out of no where an ol'friend of mine, Eyan ask if he can help. I'm like,"THANK GOD!" We finally got some one at last. The session was Crazy and We had a blast! Special Thanks to our crew on that day, Des and company and my ol'buddy Eyan for volunteering for this charity project. The Silent Tear

This meant to be up last Monday right after We came back from our On the Road Shooting assignment. During our Absent, We Knew we have many great friends because of all your sweet messages in FB, Twitter and Text, therefor We wanna thank you from the bottom of our heart. Couple of weeks past by and We still able to feel how pumped up We were working through our Recent ARE YOU READY a Photographer's Workshop 2011, the long hours, the never ending ideas, the great participation from everyone made it worth while.
We never get tired of shooting Weddings, believe us. The great happy atmosphere somehow telling you that this is what you live for. In the early days, Me and Jofanna would give our all just to see our couple get through the day with many great memories. Same with what We're doing now, still shooting Weddings, Giving our all and the only difference is We have lil one sitting at home that have no idea what her mum and dad are up to. Lil Eva just turned two a couple of months ago, today we could only see her in every other day of the week. We're very lucky and blessed to have a family that able to take good care of her while we're gone. After our shooting schedule and returned home to her, she will give us that beautiful smile that lift us without thinking any fatigue that we pick up from work. As much as We want to spent our every day with her, sometimes work landed us to shoot on the road. Just like our regular Wedding shoot but on the road means you don't get to go home in a couple of days. We thought of her everyday, call her when we're taking a break or the Wedding is concluded. Sometimes she's busy(watching TV), sometimes she talk and sometimes she's already asleep. Last week When We're done shooting on the road and make our way home, We're so excited just to get to her. When we arrived, I carried her over my shoulder, rested her head and pat her back. Suddenly Jofanna and her aunt said to Lil Eva,"Why you cry?" and that was it the silent tear. I've never seen her with teary eye without making any noise, I'm pretty sure it is a happy tear. I've seen this in many Weddings, when Bride giving Dad a hug just before leaving the house, or Father Daughter dance. By looking at the bride with that emotion moves me but to feel it yourself, I just can't describe.

We went to the beach the other day to photograph a very adorable baby Zara. She is so fair and so cute, beyond words. She got a few attire for this session, She's so hyped up and so does her family. To have your Photograph taken with the new addition to your family often always increase the motivation just to get the right shot. I wanted the shots taken in a way that She's having fun with her Mum and Dad on the beach while waiting for the Sun to set. Such Great times, here's our FAVE.

I get to photograph a couple Alex and Daphne, Totally cool, absolute Awesome with a fishing rod! a lil bit exaggerating but you don't get to play with it everyday. Alex likes to fish, there's always a new photograph of him with different kind, sizes of fishes in his Facebook page. Daphne on the other hand is a Dog Lover, very much just like myself. Did I mentioned, both of them are School Teacher. We had so much fun photographing until it rain and We're lucky to have found a shed, which we continue to photograph again. Matlan Marjan - Esquire Malaysia Mag [NOV 2011]

I stared at this monitor screen waiting for my fingers to move, I just don't know where to begin. We have just completed our 3 days back to back Wedding shoot, apart from being away we have the privilege to witness beautiful celebration, making new friends and learning new culture. In our course of Wedding adventure the last one has left us one of the greatest memory, our first Sikh Punjab Wedding. Everything is new to us, We were nervous but the joy and Love among all friends and families made us feel at home. While we're away shooting, We noticed our emails piling up trust me, as much as I wanted to get our hand on an Internet but some how time and signal coverage doesn't permit. Another thing that happen, is that our Images finally published in Esquire Magazine.

A month ago, I got a call from Esquire Magazine and they asked If I could Photograph Matlan Marjan as part of their story. They ask If i know who he is? Are you kidding me? Who one earth in Sabah do not know Matlan Marjan? I used to be the kid that goes to the Stadium with my dad, watch our beloved Football team play. Then anytime if they're playing away I would tuned in to our local radio station and listen to the game. Then I started flipping Newspaper starting from the back, wait a minute.. I still read paper Back page first, now it makes sense it started from our Football era. I just Love to see the Headlines like "SABAH is the CHAMPION". until that unforgettable Match Fixing tragedy happen. We're saddened and disappointed, That's when our support to local football ended. Today young Football players making their way, to fight and to heal the old wounded scar and bring back the confidence that once lost. I always wanted to meet this legendary player in person, have a chat with him and find out what is he up to. His story is so real and honest, listen personally from him wishes that the tragedy never take place. Today He is a strong Family man and still wishes to contribute as much as he can to our local football scene. Esquire Magazine can be found in all major bookstore now, get a copy and read all about it.

The text that catches me most, "the Day Matlan retired is the day Malaysian Football died" I really hope that Glory Day can be repeated again. For the rest of the shoot please stay tuned as I will explain how to compose the shoot and what is the technique and idea.

One of my Must Shoot List now checked, in fact two of them, the Airport and the Kitchen. Coincidently both these great individuals are from the fields that We've waited for so long. We get to know Bernard and Debra, from one of Many Wedding shoots that We work together. You might recognize them from our Local Wedding Videographer Team, Bryan Kouju Studio. Seeing the videos which both of them working together tell us what a great duo they are. If you're Wondering what time does the Airport shots take place, it was actually at 12 noon and We're only given at that restricted time slot for an hour. Trust me you wouldn't want to be on the Flight Runway at 12 noon, Roasted I tell you. Apart from the Career in an Airline, Debra is also a talented shooter. SNAPSHOT : Datuk Masidi, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment

Couple of months back me and the Breeze Team, Rush to the State Assembly Hall to catch up with the Honorable Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Masidi Manjun. Knowing Ministers are always busy, I had to quickly scout for a perfect location to do the shoot. When I arrive, I notice that one interesting piece, The Big Glass Wall. I knew I had to shoot it there once I saw it. I had to do the job quick, I decided to have 3 SB-900. Dino is holding 2 SB-900 at about 10 feet away on the other side of the Glass Wall, while Adzrul is Holding one equipped with a CTO in a EZYBOX. Here's what We got in under 10 minutes.

I caught up a word by a gentlemen in CNN yesterday, and He says," Time is running out" that Immediately sparks my mind. Time wait for no one, therefor I say Live Life to the fullest. We Celebrated, Lil Eva's second Birthday a couple of days ago. Just after two years , it still seems like we just got to hold her for the first time. Today she walks into a playschool, I could never imagined that our Lil Eva going to school so soon. Am I prepared for this? I guess this is what they called it, "Life goes on." So many Changes as time passes, [JB] has gone through so much, shooting phenomenal weddings, Pouring out crazy ideas, Learn the new Culture, exploring something that We thought never existed. In the midst of all this We've made lots of Awesome Friends, no matter [JB] is facing a good time or rough time, these are the friends that always on our side. We're talking about you guys! and We can't Thank you enough!

As for me, despite than playing a Husband/Dad role, I'm still learning the nature of Photograph and having a great time with it. If there's something that I picked up recently is that, "Simplicity" What can be removed? Instead of adding.

People around me too realize time passes quickly, And I can see them utilizing it at their utmost best. Some have created history, some trying to make history, some experience history. But one thing for sure, We must Live life to the fullest *mentioned twice now, and make history. I know we've not in touch for a period of time, you can get our latest updates by following US. Had a great time photographing Siggy and his Beautiful Family recently. If they are reading this, They're probably at home in Hannover, Germany spending quality time with each other. Siggy is a sweet man, We shared tons of Stories about Back home in Germany, and their stay in Kota Kinabalu. I've always wanted to visit Germany, but didn't get the chance to do so last year when I'm in their neighbouring Country. One of the Blog Post that We eager to post up, be warned heavy images ahead. We remembered to received an email from an awesome Australian couple a year ago before their wedding. We've been exchanging emails and soon after that, We finally get to meet Schafer and Tamara and We were right, they are as Crazy as We are. C'mon Who would've thought to create an Invitation Card based on a Clue from the Hit Reality TV Show "the Amazing Race" ? Grab the Yellow envelope, Rip it open, Read it, figure it out where the Wedding is. They told me the idea of the whole Wedding concept and hopefully I watched the Tv Show, Then I responded, "Are you Kidding me? I've auditioned for that Show!" Me and my Buddy Auditioned for the Amazing Race Asia season two a couple of years back. Now We're in the same page, We chat about how did the ideas come from and what Personal Touches have they made. Continuation from the Previous Majlis Pernikahan Post, I knew it's gonna be one Great Night When We Saw a group of talented musician doing their rehearsal. When I walk into the Ballroom getting some Detail shots, I saw their Beautiful Backdrop decorate with their Family Frames which I think is a cool idea. If there's one thing that I'm looking forward to in this Wedding is their Pelamin, which I knew it's gonna be Extravagant.

Remember the group of musician that I mentioned earlier? You might recognize them from our local TV Show, Akademi Fantasia they totally Rock the stage. Met Farish for the first time, When I was covering Ummar and Rini's Wedding last year. He is a multi-talented guy, I had so much fun just by talking to him.. He plays soccer, He's a great photo shooter, He's a Good Talker I guess that's why you get to see him on TV all the time. Apart from appearing on the local medias, He also a Good Friend which NaNa met way back in the High School. Zahrah on the other hand is nothing less, a great person to hangout due to the fact of her fun personality, she just brighten the room. Their Story began a long time ago as long as 14 years, now that is something. Their presence with each other were like they meant to be together from the first time they've met. Both rather similar personalities from 14 years ago made them who they are today as husband and wife. Here's our Fave from day one.

the amount of Blessings and Wishes that I received yesterday were beyond words, and I would like to Thank each and everyone for the wonderful kind words toward this new 31 year old Dad. For the past 3 years in my career, I've walk to many odd Shooting Locations, I've endure and Face different kind of crazy weathers, I've seen many different Wedding Culture and on top of it all I've met so many Great People. I'm going through all this not because I have to but rather I chose to, As you walk into a room seeing the Bride getting ready, putting her make up on surrounded by close and supportive Families and Friends. As you take a closer look in their eyes, you'll be able to tell how wonderful the day is, the History between them, the Excitement as the moments unfold, the Happiness that they about to experience, Now that is a Wedding. Working in an environment with so many Love and Laughter, automatically you too want to be a part of the Wedding. In a Photographer perspective how on earth can you be stressful if you Laugh all the time? I'll give up any job just for this. We enjoyed our Job so much, that We didn't realize we have met and made so many Great Friends. Thank you so much for putting up with our Crazy Personalities, Love you guys to bits!

I'm a BIG Fan of Lord of the Rings Movies, who's not? I've always wanted to get the DVDs of the extended version, but it was too pricey for me at that time. This Year I'm so excited when I heard that they gonna release the Extended version in Blu Ray Disc, It's a perfect Birthday Gift! Now I have a total of 15 Discs to get me through the Night/early morning while I'm working on the Post Process.

Had the Privilege to photograph one of the coolest guy in town. Met Sam earlier this year together with the Breeze Magazine Team to cover his story about being an ordinary guy with so much energy Man Handling the local gym CORE Fitness. Meeting Up with him is such an honor, you can feel the adrenaline and motivation rushing through your veins and want to Pump the Irons even more.

[BELOW] In normal situation I would place a SB-900 speedlight on a EZYBOX just overhead to create a Softer Portraits under the Scorching Sun. However I think that is too predictable, so I decided to have SB-900 without any Diffuser to create a Hard light just above Sam. This type of lighting you can easily see being used in any Hip Hop or even Urban Scene Music Video.

[BELOW] We then move inside the building for a Low Key Portraits. SB-900 with EZYBOX is placed on Camera left.

[BELOW] Here We place 1 SB-900 in a EZYBOX with a Full Cut CTO, serves as a Main Light on Camera Right. And another just SB-900 on Camera left to create the Back light.

[BELOW] With the same setting, this time We ask Sam to Jump!

[BELOW] We then activate the Multiple Exposure mode In-Camera, to have a lil bit of Motion Fun! Multiple Exposure means you Shot 3 different Frames and merge into one in-Camera. In this Case We activate 3 Exposures hence the three Sams.

4 Years on.

As I'm writing this, 4 years ago me and NaNa should be sitting down on our Wedding Dinner Table while waiting for the premier of Wrestling Kampung. So many things has changed ever since, our Lil Eva turning two real soon, Jofanna Bridal is entering it's fourth year, NaNa is now also helping in Shoots and Post Processing, as for me.. I think I'm totally blessed to be around to witness all these changes.

I've not blog about Us for some time now, Images of Lil Eva below meant to be uploaded couple of months back however Time is not on our side nowadays.

Lil Eva Hair is more longer now, I tweet a couple of days ago about how Disney invade our DVD Collection. There's alot of great Disney titles in our shelves, Tangled, Bolt, Ratatouille, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Monster Inc, her favorites are Winnie the Pooh, Tinkerbell and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She begins to talk more now even though We can't really make up what she's saying but I think its cute, there are times Lil Eva starts to sing, and that We think is priceless. As much as We wanted to spend our time with her every day, but in some cases require us to be away for our work. There's one thing that We absolutely proud of is that We get to spend our Off Day(Monday) dedicated only for her, just to make up some lost time from our busy schedule. We also discovered that Lil Eva loves Escalator very much, every single time when we're in a Mall She'll know her way to a Escalator, Once there We will accompany her going up and down then Up and down again did that routine for a record of 8 rounds.

We Celebrate our 4 years anniversary together with a very simple and yet meaningful dinner. We go through the day talking about on this day 4 years ago what is happening, She said, "Now We are having our first Wedding dish" couple of hours later I said, "now is the premier of Wrestling Kampung. Totally miss the Wrestling Kampung guys, recently there's rumor about the sequel, how true? We just gotta have to wait and see.

NaNa has contribute so much in the family these years, She wears so many hats and doing great with it, I couldn't ask for more. She take care of the Family, mainly Lil Eva, She also make sure everything runs well in JB. In addition to that, She also assist me in Shoots nowadays. This year NaNa will seat down together with me with our two Macbooks to get things done right up to late 3 am some time. To be a New Parent with our Young Company is really tough, But I'm pretty sure with the Luv and Support from our Family and Friends everything will be just fine.

As for me, I still get to do what I enjoyed most that is Taking Photograph and Meeting new People while learning their culture, and the images above explains just that. I find it Challenging and Fun to create new Images all the time, the thrill to learn new technique and or just by documenting a real emotion at that split moment. Besides that in our 3 year journey in JB, We have made so many new great friends and also catching up with our lost contact ol'friends, and that's why We love this industry so much not only you get to witness one of the beautiful moment surrounded by Happy People but you get to get in touch with your new and ol'friends again. I've got some Enthusiastic Photog ask about JB next workshop, trust us We're woking on it you'll get to know the details in this Blog real soon. We received emails everyday regarding our availability, Wedding Gown and others We will try our best to reply as soon as possible, there might be slight delay in replying emails if We're traveling or in a middle of a shoot. We're very lucky and appreciate to have clients that totally understand our current situation.

I always have the idea of shooting a full Pre Wed shoot with only one Camera/one Lens. As much as I like to use Flashes, but this time I'm trying to feel how its like shooting out of your comfort zone. I'm choosing a D700 Camera body, with a 50mm f1.4 for this series without any flashes, what you see here is purely available sunlight.

Had the opportunity to photograph this Gorgeous Couple in our classic Railway station. It's pretty Hot in the morning, that's one of the reason We opt to shoot under the shade. Boutique Cupcakes featuring Jet and Mei

Shot this earlier this year, We wanna create an Image with a lil bit of Valentine's and Chinese New Year based on a story of both Mei and Jet. This Images were published in Breeze Magazine February Issue. When I heard about I'm gonna shoot in a Cupcake Joint, Immediately I thought about a Cake Shop which usually have a Warm light coming out from the Window. [ABOVE] I also thought about a cafe which I experienced in Europe, hanging out, reading papers while sipping their Freshly brewed Coffee outside the joint. That's how We got the Ideas and Inspiration.

[ABOVE] after getting all the Chairs and Tables out. We placed a SB-900 with a CTO inside the shop to imitate the Warm light that I talked about earlier. Then We have Dino to sit down and place another SB-900 on a Ezybox just above him.

[ABOVE] after placing both the Lights, We invite both Mei and Jet to sit. After a couple of test, We're ready to create some images.

[BELOW] few images below, We place them just inside the shop by the Window. Using the Big Window as the Light Source.

[BELOW] This is pretty simple, you can probably see some light sources here, Warm light as the Back Light. Another Light by the Counter to illuminate the Delicious Cupcakes. Then a SB-900 on a Ezybox just above Jet, Camera right.

We then headout to our second location, Metrojaya Suria Sabah.

[ABOVE] The setting here pretty complicated but When I think about it again, it is actually pretty straight forward. We placed a Speedlite on my right to illuminate the Background, then another Speedlite with Ezybox on my left as the main light. Then Another Speedlite with the Lumiquest act as the Fill-Light. Checkout the results below.

If you're wondering how to enroll as one of JB's Assistant Photographer, Well you're in Luck because the Enrollment for JB Assistant Photographer(JoJ) 2011 is Now Open. One must be

- Passionate, you might be new in photography but you must be willing to learn.
- Active Listening, In any situation at all during the shoot you are willing to be corrected.
- Hardworking, A Wedding shoot starts early morning and finish late at night over 10 hours. Get ready for a long and tiring day.
- Happy, Always Smile.
- Equipped, you need to shoot occasionally and possess basic camera gear like DSLR+Lens, Flash gun, Batteries and Memory cards.
- Ligthing Assistant, you need to switch roles in some shoot.
- Located in Kota Kinabalu, might need to travel some times.

*Note This is NOT a full-time position, Assistant only help me on Pre Wedding and actual Wedding shoots. Pre Weddings normally happen on Weekdays and Wedding on Weekends.

E - Session : Bede + Daphne, part one

Been Waiting to post this up for some time now, it is indeed one of our memorable shoot. Bede and Daphne are totally so into each other, it is so easy to tell how much they are in love just by looking at them. We started the shoot with a very Hot Burning Sun in the morning, but we're lucky enough to have high stacking Containers to keep us cool and shaded. Wanted to shoot in the Container yard so badly, and Despite the Ordinary scene I knew it is a great location to create stunning Portraits. We got Two of B + D's Bestest friends to help us out in this shoot, and they are equally excited.. I think..haha. Ok gonna cut down to the chase and Here's our Fave.

In terms of posing, At often times We suggest our Couple to just act how you normally do act, Of course at some point We will point out in which area that can be improved. We totally Understand if you feel Nervous, I mean that is practically natural, I will definitely feel the same way Unless If you're a Model and Striking a Pose is what you that would be a Plus. To get an Image that portray the real you, All you gotta do is to let loose and be comfortable with your Photog. Am I out of topic? hmmm.. probably. Let's head back to today's post.

I believe in creating an images that filled with powerful memories. In today's post has no exception, Creating an images in a scene with Beautiful and long historic Landmark like mountains, River, Buildings, Bridge and so forth are Good. But I'm thinking how to step it up a notch in creating an Images with same Historic Memories but Irreplaceable? Confused? If you think about it Historical landmarks has one thing in common, Ten years later they probably will look the same except for Historic Building, but they might be tight in security in preserving their quality. Then testing my theory in ten years later will Gaya Street or the Kota Kinabalu town itself look the same? High Chances they will not. That's how We pitch the idea, We're Lucky enough to get C + L to test our theory. Will the Same Signboards gonna be there after ten years or are those Cab Stands gonna get relocated? We don't know that yet.. But If they really do, rest assured We know how it looks like Back then. OK anyone up for a Sunset by the Kampung Air(Water Village) ? Here's our Fave.

"Gotta have'em croquette in my next visit" that's what I said in 2009, a year later making my way back to the Netherlands and my opportunity in hunting croquette continues.. sounds very adventurous? well not really.. not when you stayed in a Hotel with McD just across the street. Yes, the McD in the Netherlands has the Delicious Croquette in their menu.. if you happen to be there, go check it out. Croquette Hunting is not really what I'm doing in Europe, I had the honor to photograph a Wedding for Jayton and Judy. What a beautiful beautiful Couple, Words can't describe how madly in Love they are.

Been Wanted to shoot a Wedding in a European Catholic Church, gosh the Churches here are just Magnificent! J+J's Wedding are no exception, take a look at St Philip and St John's Church as you scroll down this post. It was 13 degrees and the Weather are so unpredictable, It shines and Rains in every 5 minutes. Towards the end of the Cocktail, We suppose then have the Portraits session but the Confused Mr Rain decided to join in.. then We said, "Let just Join the Party!".. haha. Here's our Fave and oh.. JB Annual Dinner 2010

We are truly grateful to be around with many talented and passionate friends. As We prepping for our 4th year in the industry these are the strong people in our team that made everything possible in through out season 3. We had our annual dinner/Christmas party together last year in Sailors, if you guys haven't be sure to checkout the joint.
