We heard so much about people not giving up, stay motivated, think positive, never take No for answers. It sounds easy but the effort to execute or stay that way sometimes excruciating. When I was working for a local telco company more than 15 years ago, I'm a graduate from Computer Science. Yes I'm a Geek, Back then The Internet was a pinnacle as it change the entire Home or Office system. We used to setup a network between computers among our friends and start sending messages locally. But When this system grows bigger into a International Scale, The phenomenal Internet made its mark. Shortly after that People able to search for information, and chatting Via MiRC. That iconic sound of 1515 modem still fresh in my mind. Coming back to the telco company that I'm working with, They've developed a new way of surfing the internet. Before, We are using copper line as a source of communication, then the Fibre Optics came into picture and that's when we get to enjoy high speed internet, we called this Broadband.
Not many people able to accept change, similar to my outdoor photography story. Now, my job is to convince people in the residential area to convert from 1515 to broadband. I was assigned to work in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur; the amount of effort to persuade, convince, educate about the new product is ridiculous. Who would want a broadband when you're comfortable with the current speed? besides it is way more expensive. Road blocks after road blocks, I knew I need to persevere thats because I'm gonna be the first one to launch Broadband under this telco in East Malaysia! Yikes!! With some Passion and creative thinking We manage to pull it through. One case that I did was, I do not speak to the parents of the house, instead I asked for the more dominant Internet user, the children.. One of the questions that I asked and immediately converting them was, "When you play your Battlenet, do you lose because the entire game paused for no reason?" A-Ha! jackpot! Talked about customer profiling! Today, the end user far more educated than we are back then. Amazing! glad to see our mindless effort pays off today.
Sorry for the long post, It's just that yerterday's pre wedding Session reminds me of my telco days. We were scheduled for a church photo scene at 9 am, luck enough We found out that there's a ceremony happening at that time and we manage to re adjust our time to earlier. We don't really have much time window to work with that's because our clients are not local which means we really need to complete the entire session on that specific day. Close to 2pm the rain decide to drop by, and this for us is a major set back. We have no other way but to Wait and pray, hopefully the rain would just stop for a moment. Well it didn't unfortunately, no matter what the situation is, we must remain calm and positive. We went on anyway, Lucky enough with much motivation We did finally finish. And below was the last frame from that session.
What I'm trying to say is, Sometimes things might not turns out like the way you want it to be, that's because it will turn out even better than you could've ever imagined. Stay Strong and Keep Moving.
